@Minuteman091112 And finally, Airbus does sell more civil aicraft than Boeing does these days. The world has changed a lot. Really a lot. The USA did own the realm of flight in the 1960's with Apollo marking the peak. But after this, the world did not wait. NASA even got a retired Russian Concorde, the TU144, for test flights in the 1990s, since the USA did never have such a supersonic aircraft.
Once the Shuttle will be retired, the only nations in space, manned, will be Russia and China...

@Minuteman091112 And last but not least, the International Space Station hugely profits from the Russian experience. Because Russia was the only nation which operated a big space station (Mir) from the 1980s until the 1990s, when international cooperation started between Russia, Europe and the USA finally. Today NASA / the USA is in trouble, because there are only 3 more Shuttle flights until it retires, while NASA does not have any replacement yet. They will have to buy seats on Soyuz.

@Minuteman091112 "The United States still owns the realm of flight".
Nope. It does own the realm of operating a reusable spacecraft, but it does not own the realm of fligh anymore. Remeber that China also is in space manned for a few years now. The Russian Soyuz is the most reliable manned system and the European Concorde still is the only civil supersonic aicraft which. Sadly, the Russian Buran program was canceled. But Russia also had a Space Shuttle.

We were luckly to be in holiday in Florida at the time of the launch. We watched it from Spaceview Park in Titusville.Looked like all the other people there enjoyed the launch as much as we did. Suggest you go and see the next few because the Shuttle is being discontinued in a couple of years ....

I was at the launch. It was a beautiful launch! And now she has landed. It was a beautiful landing also! I am Karen's sister and am very proud of her!!! And to anyone who wants to talk dumb, keep it to yourself. Thank you!

4.5 million pounds of humans and hardware taking aim on the international space station! Fantastic!! STS-124

I wonder how many launches it will take to no longer have morons saying this is fake? Where do these people come from?? We landed on the moon in 1969. Yes, The United States still owns the realm of flight whether the rest of the world likes it or not!!

Like I've already mentioned, the puff is the ignition of the OMS-engines. Several crews have reported seeing reddish brown puffs as the engines ignite during OMS-burns.

GEEEEEEEEEs man calm down A Joke
There is nothing more stunning and beautiful than a flawless shuttle launch. Remember, there is a single light of science, and to brighten it anywhere is to brighten it everywhere. This is great stuff, it'll be sad to see this program go.
