  • Franklin Graham invited Palin to go to Haiti and see the work his NGO Samaritan's Purse IS DOING in Haiti with cholera clinics, temporary shelters, clean water, rubble removal, and yes shoebox gifts. This wasn't a Palin arranged photo-op. Sure, she may not have gotten her hands dirty digging a well, but she did encourage Haitians. That shouldn't be undermined. Cholera clinics are some of the saddest places on earth. For her to go there and cheer up those afflicted by the epidemic says a lot.

  • There are plenty of other ways for Palin to improve her relationship with the African American community than visiting cholera victims in Haiti. Why does everything have to be a political strategy? Maybe, she genuinely does feel compassion towards the plight of the Haitian people.

Before you speculate about someone's motives for doing something good, why don't you look inside your own heart and ask yourself, "Why am I not in Haiti helping the Haitian people?"

  • @detroitsam1 I see what you're saying. However, the impact of the shoboxes is tremendous. Think about it: you have a child who lost everything in the earthquake; friends, family, parents. They're sick and wounded in a medical center and someone brings them gifts. While, no, it doesn't make their situation immediately better, it gives them total joy for maybe just a day, to know that some stranger in another country cared enough to make a gift for them. Something that they could never afford. :)

  • God bless Sarah Palin and everyone doing great work down in Haiti. Sarah Palin can use her celebrity to raise awareness and drive donations towards worthy causes such as this and I'm so thankful that she's chosen to do just that.

  • @nofurrythings I know for a fact that Palin had an eighty percent approval rating, when she was governor. Just on that your other statements are bunk about her.

  • @detroitsam1 So I see you feel that Palin going and bringing FOX news to show the destruction that is still Haiti is a bad move? I must have missed the videos of OBAMA,BIDEN and PELOSI in Haiti. Why do you hate so much? When there is devistation and you can get people to send money who gives a shit who it is.

Try the google. Facts are not hard to find if you are really interested. This is not new information.

  • @detroitsam1

Haiti has been devestated by earthquakes (300,000 dead), hurricanes, massive flooding and a cholera epidemic that has sicken more than 91,000, killed over 2,000 people .

Palin feels compassion towards the Haitian people? Google Nicholas Tucker, Emmonak, AK. Learn how Palin ignored the suffering rural AK while she was touring D.C. dining with rich right-wing bigots. Who actually helped rural AK through a struggle for survival during a fuel and food crisis in 2009? Not Palin.

  • The notion that Palin went to Haiti to impress AAs is silly.

Palin is a bigot. Photo-ops with poor Haitians babies who had been bathed and wore new cloths changes nothing. Did she get her hands dirty helping the REAL humanitarian workers? NO.

Pres. Clinton, Bush, many others have made extraordinary efforts for Haiti. Palin suddenly discovered Haiti, flys there with shoeboxes of junk. Haiti needs clean water, sanitation, infrastructure, medical supplies.

    Not junk from China.
