My phone rings it's my dad, lung cancer was all I heard. On my knees sobbing my dad said "I'll win this fight sissy" but it had spread giving him only a few months to live. November almost a year to date my dad lost the battle of cancer A simple man never wanting to make a big deal of things. God, nature and fishing his favorite place we went. Each with a shot of wiskey his ashes spread playing "One wing in the fire." Thank you for such a wonderful song it is fitting of our beloved dad.

This will always be the song to my father and his struggles...The man is now sober for 6 month after a 30 year addiction and my mom at 65 feels like shes a teen again...I love this song and my country ways

Very moving song. My father lost his battle with lung cancer last October. I wish I could have remembered this song because I would have had it played at the funeral. Thanks for this amazing song.

My niece was diagnosed with leukimia last week, and my dad wasn't ashamed to cry. We're all praaying she'll be fine, and my dad will hold me and cry with me any time i need him too. He's not perfect, but he's the best you could have, even with ine wing in the fire. Love to you, dad

This is one of my favorite songs it reminds me so much of my dad he has never been a saint but hes always been there for me if it wasnt for him i would of been nothing i would have been dead by now if he had never helped me. And I will always be grateful to him.
