Here is some video of a bluebelly lizard we caught in Southern California. My recent findings dispute the idea that these "hybrids" are "only a large, adult version of the common Western Fence lizard". I've caught lizards all my life and familiar with the varations in the patterns of a Wester Fence Lizard. I believe that what I have shown is a different species, especially since I've recently observed younglings with the same distinct pattern which differ from the common Western Fence lizard.
