Dedicated to the memory of Dawn Brancheau . This is the previous SeaWorld Shamu show called "Believe" filmed in San Diego, California on March 3, 2009., On February 24, 2010 at SeaWorld Orlando the orca "Tilikum" drowned Dawn - an experienced female trainer as at least two dozen tourists looked on from above a whale tank and from an underwater viewing area. Following this event, trainers no longer go into the water with the orcas at SeaWorld parks shows.

  • @nooloo3000 marine park orca's dorsal fins are often "collapsed", which basically means it doesn't stand straight. there're many theories on the internet, some believe it's due to chemicals or lack of space. whichever theory, however, it is shown that fin collapsing is very common in captivity, while there's less than 1% of dorsal fin collapse in the wild.

  • @nooloo3000 that happens to captive Orcas. We are not sure why.

  • @Naterz100 (cont part 2) The interaction with the social Orca and the trainers is an important part the day for the captive Orcas. Therefore should be brought back. On the captivity issue Sea World spends a lot of time studying these animals , they do a lot to help preserve them in the wild. So these captive animals bring in needed money to contimue the study. in exchange for their freedom they get as much care as we can provide while the money goes to preserve wild orca populations.

  • You know there is risk in every thing we do. they Orcas at Sea World would have a poor chance at survival in the wild. I am sure the interaction with the trainers is important for both the people and the captive Orcas. When people go to the circus there are often acts without a net these people could die as well. look at driving flying the list goes on. While anyone getting killed or injured is a tragedy it can and does happen. I am sure the number of deaths to number of shows is quite low (cont

  • Awesome video :) think it has actually convinced me to cross the pond and go stateside.

  • wonderful to see such beautiful whales, so upsetting to see them enclosed like this { i cried

    ] they should be free!

  • I think shamu can breach almost higher then great whites do when they eat o.o

  • every has their initial opinion of how amazing these shows are, and c'mon, these whales ARE amazing, but a really good refresher is easy to find - i looked up the Wikipedia article on captive orcas and it has a lot of information about why captivity is bad for them. just take a lazy evening and read it some time. wikipedia isnt the best source of knowledge out there, i know, but the article was a real ey opener for me.
