@joec123able Check your facts retard. the best archers of the time of Edward III could only shoot half that distance. A Turkish flight bow could shoot maybe 800, but certainly not an English longbow.

@joec123able No your wrong, the only records we have point to a good (roving) shot in Medieval times being about 400 yards so we could assume a little more for flight but 800 has never been achieved from an ELB.

@heavybows no your wrong record is over 800 yrds with a english long bow or atlest bak in medieval times

@Thompsonjuekr you'e wrong about archers being unable to fight without melee units. they were the vast majority of king richards army at agincourt, and his archers shot the french knoghts up and then pushed them into the mud and cut their throats.
