1. Download all three files.
2. Restore iPhone/iPod Touch with 3.1.2 firmware you downloaded.
3. You will get an error in iTunes.
4 Drag the 2 files from the iRecovery folder to the desktop
5. Open Terminal and type in sudo -s
6. Type in your computer password
7. Then type in "cd ~/desktop"
8. Then type in "chmod 777 libusb-0.1.4.dylib"
9. Then type in "chmod 777 iRecovery"
10. Click on your desktop and click Go in the toolbar
11. Click Go to Folder and type in /usr
12. Open the lib folder
13. Drag the libusb-0.1.4.dylib file to the lib folder
14. Drag the iRecovery file on desktop to Terminal and type in -s (press enter afterwards)
15. Type in "setenv auto-boot true" (enter)
16. Type in "saveenv" (enter)
17. Type in "/exit" (enter)
18. Reboot your iPhone/iPod Touch (keep holding home + sleep for 10 seconds).
Your phone/iPod should boot normally now and you will be on 3.1.2 firmware
19. Open up Blackra1n and jailbreak your device


For Windows User:

1) Install libusb from the downloaded pack for Windows users only Mac users can skip this step. If you are on Windows Vista then follow the steps given below to install Libusb-Win32.
•Right click on this file. Select Properties | Compatibility Click the Run this program in compatibility mode box and select  Windows XP (Service Pack2) from the drop down list.
•Right click again and select Run as Administrator. Follow the installation instructions. Running the test program list the usb devices plugged into my computer but not my new device.

  • could not restore because the firmware is not compatible?

  • @Dred7315 that is because apple does not support restoring to that firmware anymore and you didnt save your shsh with cydia

  • dude!its says "The iPod "gino" could not be restored. This device isn't eligible for the requested build.. my itunes is 9.2 and my ipod is 4.0 mc model and i want to downgrade it to 3.1.2...can you help me on this?
