1980 cover of 1963 hit by Kyu Sakamoto (b. November 10, 1941. d. August 12, 1985) Translated from Japanese (not literally) by A Taste of Honey.
The song was written by Rokusuke Ei after Japanese actress, Meiko Nakamura broke his heart.

I was bored this week so I put this together. I don't know why.

Lyrics:

It's all because of you
I'm feeling sad and blue
You went away
Now my life is just a rainy day

I love you so
How much you'll never know

You've gone away
And left me lonely

Untouchable memories
Seem to keep haunting me
Of love so true
That once turned all my gray skie blue

But you dissapeared
Now my eyes are filled with tears
I'm wishing you were here with me

Soft with love are the thoughts of you
Now that you're gone
I don't know what to do

If only you were here
You'd wash away my tears

The sun would shine
And once again you'll be mine, all mine

But in reality
Your love will never be
Cause you took your love away from me

{Music}

If only you were here
You'd wash away my tears

The sun would shine
And once again you'll be mine, all mine

But in reality
Your love will never be
Cause you took your love away from me

Ohh, baby
You took your love away from me

{Music}

  • @disord3r This is the same group. "A Taste Of Honey" was formed in 1971. The group members were Janice Marie Johnson, Carlita Dorhan, Perry Kibble, Donald Ray Johnson. In 1978 their hit "Boogie Oogie Oogie" went to number #1 in Pop, R&B, Club Play, and Disco

Singles charts, and in 1981 "Sukiyaki" went to #3 in Pop charts, and #1 in R&B charts. I got the album "Twice As Sweet," this song came off of so I should know.

  • It's not a harp. The instrument you are hearing is a japanese instrument called a "Koto"

^ That's why racism is so ugly. It attempts to tarnish everything with it's hatred. This is a beautiful song with beautiful images and that guy tried to spoil it. Luckily he wasn't successful.

  • @TheWarpedVinyl actually, that is the beautiful string instrument Japanese call Kodo or Koto, the Koreans call Kayagum & the Chinese call Go-jin. this one was the first song in which I heard that splendid instrument.

  • OMG...i haven't heard this song in AGES!! :D

  • Really smart. Now those who don't know will get a cultural lesson.

  • Domo arigatou Sukiyaki---Kyu Sakamoto

  • @TheWarpedVinyl actually it's a Koto being played, it's essentially a Japanese harp

  • This is good, but I liked kyu sakamoto the best

  • You're a DREAM COME TRUE

  • @exasee 7!! The old saying goes "if you can't hold down a job, you change your line of work". I wish you the best.
