I built this magnet motor before researching about the Perendev design. My experience is that it is an EXCELLENT magnetic brake!

  • @BaanTech 12 yr old can lock up bike tires. Later, that same kid can lock up his rear passenger wheel with the emergency break, again with basically his bare hands. Could be a lot of things preventing it, doesn't matter how powerful it is if your car loses power, etc.

But damn imagine bringing brakes with zero heat generation to the market.

I just wouldn't underestimate the power of the magnet. If a series of magnetic pulses can start a bullet, then it is a fact that they can stop it.

  • __ w w w diymagneticmotor. com wonder if anyone tryed this? hmm.....

  • you'er not doing it right

  • @BaanTech I think it miniaturization and electromagnetic would be very possible. Replace parking brake with a fail safe like an air brake found on semis.

  • But, i would say that with some more ingenuity, this could work eventually. Great idea, but its just not quite there yet.

  • it would work if you could make the magnets as small as a rotor on a vehicle and increase the power of the magnet tremendously...but you cant. A magnet can only be so strong at a certain size, usually the bigger, the stronger...small magnets can be very powerful but even if you had one the size of a brake rotor, it doesn't produce enough force to stop the inertia of a 3000lb vehicle traveling at high or even low speed. not even 4 rotor sized magnets could stop that.
