I heard this song for the first time the other day. And immediately I thought of Johnny and June so I put there pics in the video part. The audio is from a live Doc Watson show in January. If you don't know Doc Watson you should check him out. He is one of the best still going at 85.

Yes that is correct - the name of this song is "My Lone Journey! " It is a song about death approaching - no one knows how "long" a journey death may be- but we know it is a journey one must travel alone.

Just heard Robert Plant sing this yesterday. It is a very beautiful song.

Rosa Lee & Doc wrote this as 'Your Lone Journey', and it seems that when Alison & Robert recorded it on their Raising Sand cd, it got renamed 'Your Long Journey' they also changed a part of the lyric, from 'pangs of grief' to 'pains of grief'... just an observation. Love both versions though.

One of the most beautiful yet saddest songs ever written. I cry everytime I hear it.

Alison has those deep country roots which is surprising for a city girl.
If you like this song, you need to listen to Oh, Death by Ralph Stanley.
