A solid state teslacoil is a device that generates high voltages using tesla's resonance theory. basically its a transformer with a few windings primary and a very high number secondary. in my case 7 primary and 750 secondary.

This transformer only works when the right (resonance) frequency is applied at the primary. When applied correctly, a tremendous voltage will be genereted at the secondary coil (the 750 windings). which in my case has reached a maximum of 131.000 volts. these high voltages will couse the air to conduct locally, what you can see as corona. The electricity is actually coming off the tip.

When the air comes in conductance, it will heat up and expand rapidly like a ligtningbolt, but smaller. this generates vibrations in the air, also known as sound.

By switching this device on and off at the frequency of sound (20- 20KHz), you can actually make diffrent hearable tones on this device.

When an audio signal is used to interrupt this teslacoil, that sound will become hearable by the corona switchin on and off.

The sound you hear is actually comming fom the corona you hear!!

Have fun waching:)

  • I think if you wanted a smoother sound, you need a higher resonant frequency inside your coil circuit. Am I right?

  • @mushu5t 400khz should be enough for a very clear sound. This circuit is self tuning but it takes a few ms every time its turned on to find that resonance freq. That is why this circuit can never be clear for real audio. It will be different if a stationary oscillator is used, but this reduces spark length.

  • Nikola Tesla FTW! ^^

  • @TrenteR557 Actually if you design the coil and driver right, you can achieve sparkles of over 3x the coil height.

  • I read solid snake tesla coil. I was sorely disappointed.

  • The cool new candle! Someone should play lightning by the wanted XD

  • @imlink1 y u no meme right?

  • but does it blend?

  • Dude. How can I use my guitar with a tesl coil?

  • @LordEsper You'll not die from that thing even if you want to .

    : P

But Idea is cool , only , i prefer heavy metal modulated streamers .

  • Holy shit!

  • omg so cool

  • Nothing like making electricity our bitch... I mean instrument.
