Lech Walesa - Oslo Freedom Forum 2010

Nobel Laureate and first Polish president Lech Walesa offers words of encouragement to those who might feel downtrodden with the current state of the world. If sometimes it feels as though the challenges we face are impossible to overcome, Walesa urges us to remember that through solidarity, our generation has succeeded in solving many problems that at one time were considered hopeless. We are a special generation that has succeeded in eliminating many dangerous divisions from the world, minimizing the boundaries that once divided nations and peoples, and embracing global cultural interaction. We look forward to very real prospects of peace and worldwide security, if our values can remain in line. He says with exaltation, "let us rejoice for the times in which we happen to be living."

Wałęsa he betrayed us. He was a communist agent. IPN (Institute of the National Memory) he is holding documents which his betrayals are evidence. He wasn't a hero- he communicated with traitors of the Polish Nation. I am Polish- and I know what I am writing.

@whaddupmf you know arguing is much cheaper than fighting! He is very primitive uneducated religious hypocrite. I'm always comparing him with Vaclav Havel its a lesson to not to give power primitive people like Walensa! He caused a divisions which will last in Poland for decades. He surrounded him with former secret agents who helped him to spy on opposition, they were taped, invigilated, infiltrated great freedom fighter indeed.

@admonster11 : Don't be so critical of this man......he inherited a system that no one would have been able to deal with in 1990. My one criticism of the Polish people is that they like to argue about every little stupid thing. No matter what one does in Poland it's always wrong. One thing that is certain is that Walesa is widely respected throughout the world. He may be a controversial figure at times in Poland but outside of it he is a hero !!
