@cashmerek Yes he is a great trainer, but I don't agree with his weight biggotry. A fit man weighs more than many a plump woman. But he never goes after the fit people.
I rode at a barn where the schoolies had weight limits (made sense) one girl was tall and very thin. No one asked how much she weighed. till it came out she weighed 180 pounds. more than some of the 'fat girls' who weren't allowed to ride the horse.
Horses generally can comfortably carry 20% of their weight. Do the math.

My riding instructor had a clinic with George Morris. She says he is truthful and wont candy-coat things. She also says, he taught her a lot about riding.

I must say, I used to LOVE Gerorge Morris, but now I'm not personally a huge fan of him. My farrier and saddle fitter know him and they have never talke dnicely about his training or attitude. That's just my opinion.

....granted, that's not to say that anyone here is of sufficient caliber to seriously critique him. But still, the "god" nonsense, is just that.
I'm pretty sure that the people who don't know what a counter canter is are not entitled to voice their opinions on the riding of GEORGE MORRIS. And as far as his "contact" goes...he's fixing the issue...not creating one. The man can ride and he knows what he's talking (and riding) about. And as far as I'm concerned I agree with his weight philosophy. I think I would give my right arm to have a lesson from him.

I can't believe ppl are saying he is on the wrong lead. This is George Morris. There is one of two reasons that the horse is counter-cantering: one is that he doesn't care because it has nothing to do with the problem he is fixing and two is because counter-canter requires more balance which can cause the horse to compromise her fight in the head to keep her balance. Either way, if you think that counter-cantering is wrong, you should know that it's actually something you should do every ride.
