the chance that higher life forms might have emerged by chance is comparable with the chance that a tornado sweeping through a junk yard might assemble a boeing 747 from materials therein.

  • Direct vision is very limited. Consider the following: A tooth contains innumerable bacteria. No bacteria is aware of the tooth in which it lives, for that would mean that it has removed itself from the tooth and used some artificial means (e.g., telescopes and microscopes) to obtain an approximate idea of the tooth's surroundings and its relationship to the human body. Even if this were possible, such awareness would not mean understanding.

  • Why Can't We See God?

God is absolutely other than His creation, for the Creator cannot have the same kind of being as His creation. Although this is self-evident, some people still ask why we cannot see God directly.

  • The Arabic word "Islam" means the submission or surrender of one's will to the only true god worthy of worship "Allah" and anyone who does so is termed a "Muslim". Islam is the religion which was given to Adam, the first man and the first prophet of Allah, and it was the religion of all the prophets sent by Allah to mankind. The name of God's religion lslam was not decided upon by later generations of man. It was chosen by Allah Himself and clearly mentioned in His final revelation to man.

  • The first thing that one should know and clearly understand about Islam is what the word "Islam" itself means. The religion of Islam is not named after a person as in the case of Christianity which was named after Jesus Christ, Buddhism after Gotama Buddha etc. Islam is the true religion of "Allah" and as such, its name represents the central principle of Allah's "God's" religion; the total submission to the will of Allah "God".

  • Who are we (the human being)? Who are you and I? And why are we here on earth? The Qur'an teaches that we humans are created of three components. We are created from clay, representing the material or carnal element. We are endowed with intellect that is Allah-given to be used, not to be put on the shelf. Reason may be insufficient but it is not the antithesis of faith, either. And thirdly, we are endowed with the spirit of Allah, which was breathed into us. Allah knows best

  • The Qur'an repeatedly makes it clear that Allah is beyond our limited perception. "There is nothing whatever comparable unto Him." (Quran) "No vision can grasp Him, but His grasp is over all vision." A Muslim never thinks of God as having any particular image, whether physical, human, material or otherwise. Such attributes as The Perfectly-Knowing,The Eternal, The Omnipotent, the Qur'an also talks about Allah as personal God who is close, easily approachable, Loving, Forgiving and Merciful.

  • ajr5086, we humans and our planet is such a tiny tiny fraction of the entire universe that both in terms of the 14 billion years timescale since the Big Bang and the billions of lightyears of distances between a mindblowing number of galaxies, black holes, stars and planets we really make no difference. Why don't you study how nature actually works? Our modern science is far far more advanced than you think.

  • willidjan, actually that is very untrue. There are quite consistent findings of non-believers being more intelligent. Religion is providing the easy explanation of things like creation of the universe, the earth and life. It explains it with no depth of theory and it can be understood by any kid. The real understanding in our modern science however takes extensive studies and an intelligent mind to understand. E.g. evolution is something most uneducated people can't comprehend.

  • Agree, but all Gods are the creation of the human imagination.

Long before Allah and long before the Christian God, we made up Gods with the desire of a father-figure protecting us against evil, providing hope, afterlife and setting some moral standards. We've also used Gods to explain the unexplained.

So WHY should there SUDDENLY be a REAL God after we've made the exact same concept of Gods for 1000s of years beforehand?

There is no exception. All Gods are man-made with no evidence.

  • I agree with much of this.

I have something of a different view point, but I agree.
