I live in NJ, but I love the southwest (especially Utah). This is my second video slideshow. As soon as I figured out that I could make DVDs, I mothballed my slide projector.

98% of this slideshow was taken with a Canon S3 IS, including the video clips. It's an excellent camera for this medium, and I recommend it highly (although its image quality might be a tad sub-par for very large prints). I used Adobe Photoshop Elements 4 & Premiere Elements 2 to put everything together. Super software! (Soundtrack: Narada Collection 4 & 5).

The entire show is about 15 minutes long, so broke it up into 3 segments, plus an additional bonus video:

Part 1: Phoenix, AZ - White Sands, NM
Part 2: Santa Fe, NM - Hovenweep, UT
Part 3: Arches, UT - Phoenix, AZ.
Bonus Video: Time Lapse sequences.

I hope my video slide show inspires others as I have been inspired by others. Enjoy!

  • Jim, Great slideshow!...it all went smoothly!...liked the music too. Picking the wrong music will surely screw up a magnificent slideshow/video. Was this done with the Canon S5IS ?.....I"m getting the S5IS this week. Check out some of my slideshows I've done at: salpedi

  • Hi SalPedi. Thanks for the feedback. I used the Canon S3IS. I'll send you some additional comments - check your inbox.

  • Nice photography and very well edited. An excellent job on this. Chaco and Hovenweep, you really got off the beaten path. Chaco was greener in 2007 than I've seen before. Looks like a great trip, considering parts 1 and 3 of your videos.

  • Opening has great shots of the Loretto Chapel and courtyard, then the La Fonda also in Santa Fe, moving on to Bandelier, Chaco Canyon and the cliff dwellings - and I'd reiterate that the actual video clips, instead of just photo show usage in this video is great.

  • I like it! You even put some clips in this one.
