In a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on the repeal of the "Defense of Marriage Act," Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) on Wednesday challenged witness Thomas Minnery of Focus on the Family for misrepresenting a federal study by claiming that children raised by a male-female married couple are happier and healthier than children raised by other families.

its not hatred from christians. The man who did the "cross examining" failed to mention what a "nuclear" family means in the particular study that he was looking at. he didnt delve deeper as the other guy did. So that less than 2 minute mock was invalid for me. Having an opinion on gay adoption that opposes the majority and is classed as hatred. Why mock somone for having a contrary view? it doesnt make sense, we live in a "free country" after all.

Finally, someone calling out these people for distorting research (done by credible scientist/s) to push their own agenda. Well, it's one of the first times I have seen it done. So I apologize if it is done more often in America.

It was not a lie by any stretch of the imagination. There are not enough same sex couples with children related to them to even know the effects yet.

@drinkspecials I wish there was more like you, drinkspecials. The nonstop hate from religion has pushed me away from it because they believe they can enforce one issue (gays being wrong), but can disregard others (such as it was stated that it was forbidden to wear clothing of two different cloths, etc.).

Being a Single Gay Male. I got custody of two boys, aged 1 & 21/2. It wasn't easy!! They are now 19 & 21. Both excelled in Sports, and Academics. Each Graduated with honors, and attend Great University's. It isn't the fact that there was a Mom, Dad. Mom, Mom, or Dad,Dad. It is The LOVE, and RESPECT we have for each other. I was never inclined to "The Life Style" It just isn't Me. It has never been hidden from them. They have always Known. As have the People around us. Acceptance is The KEY!

God said after following Him, the greatest commandment is to "Love one another as I have loved you". People don't have to agree with others, they don't have to subscribe to their beliefs, but only have to 'love' them by being kind and tolerant. I really don't understand the hatred, the maliciousness of so-called Christians. Like any group, one bad apple, or more spoil it for everyone. Lets support our fellow countrymen/women. Just be cool with each other. It isn't that hard really.
