This is a classic demonstration of the benefits of eye tracking. The blue circles represent the area the user is looking at and the size of the blue circle indicates how long they look at that point on the page. In this example we see a very typical case of banner blindness impacting the user's ability to find items on the page. If we were testing this without eye tracking we would be left baffled as to why the user didn't click into the quiz. However, with eye tracking we clearly see the user doesn't even look at the quiz because they assume it is a banner ad or promotion. Eventually they do find it but not until after 54 seconds has passed.
