Hello! Thanks for the video. :)
The last time I tried I used butter... which is to say that butter does not go into the pot at the same time as the pocorn! lol Oops. I burnt it.
This time I used olive oil and your technique and it worked! Yay, no more black and white popcorn! :D

Do more vids. My fiancee and I have just made buttery popcorn :)
-
I burnt the bottom of my pan on previous attempt but after watching your video and using oil this time it worked brilliantly - thanks!

I was looking for a way to let more of the kernels pop because at least a third doesn't pop. Seeing you I think I know what I can do. A little clumsy, still very charming. Thumbs up!

loved your video I use an old pressure cooker pot (that I lost the lid to). pop corn comes out great and it is truly economical besides i don't have a microwave nor do I want one. Happy popping!!!

Moved my art studioto Europe Ten years ago and have acclimated very well after all these years. Now saying that, tonight I felt homesick. I dont know why but I wanted some american style pop corn, non- sugared, (the germans love it sugared) . Anyway I forgot how to make non-microwave pop corn ha-ha. Typed it into youtube and you came up. Your video made me laugh. Thank you for the reminder and the laugh. Nameste

i wasnt planning on actually making popcorn ...because i havent made dinner yet...but i think im going to have popcorn for dinner because of this video :)
-
great video. I remember doing this when I was young, then I switched to microwave (for some weird reason) if your city has a Co-op or similar store, you can buy the popcorn by the pound. it's way better than the pre-packaged ones.
-
yumm i made it youre right about how good it is

i am so impressed with myself! and it's all thanks to your video! my local UK store didn't have the microwave bags and i had SUCH a craving for popcorn. this is delicious. i even used olive oil cause that was all i had, and it was fine :). THANK YOU!
My step dad uses coconut oil, and it gives the popcorn this AMAZINGLY tropical taste. It's sweeter, and I like it like that. Also another upside to popping your own popcorn (college kids) is that IT'S CHEAPER THAN BUYING PRE-MADE, as are so many other things, like limeade and lemonade.
One question though: I have a pot, but I don't have a lid with a steam hole. Is there a way I can substitute? I DO have a strainer that fits over the top...

@GummiHug OMG, I can't believe I never thought to try coconut oil! As for the pot cover, my one with the vent broke, so I've been using a plain pot lid, and just kinda holding it loosely and letting the steam out as I go.

FAIL
my kitchen is full of smoke... oh well
Ashtree81 6 months ago
@Ashtree81 What kind of oil did you use? Did you shake the pot? And remove it from the heat when it stopped popping?
lizriz 6 months ago
@lizriz
Rapeseed oil
The smoke came before it started popping actually, I might have used to much corn I think
Your tutorial was great, the blame is on me =)

@Ashtree81 :) It may have been the oil. Try using sunflower oil, or vegetable oil. I use sunflower these days, and it works great. Some oils smoke in high heat.
