All Simmons did was ramble off a bunch of drivel, attack Darwin on a personal level, not present any evidence to back up his own BS and worst of all, completely ignore, or misrepresent the actual evidence, In fact, he didn't even seem to understand it. In conclusion, Simmons is a doucebag with a douchebaggery level of OVER 9000!

Creationists deliberately avoid learning about anything that would undermine their religion. Thats why they know next to nothing about evolution, they simply don't want to know. Anything that shakes up their belief system must be avoided and refuted at all costs.

Not only can we compare human beings with apes, we are apes. Any child in a zoo will see immediately how similar we are to apes. And, there was a time when our ancestors did not write poetry, either, our brains had not yet evolved to that level. We were making stone tools and learning to use fire, not writing poetry. I think its amazing how all life on earth is related to each other, its wonderful, not insulting.

Heaven help the poor soul who trusts his health and fate to an idiot like Simmons. Listening to him speak, I can't believe he passed the academic rigor to earn a degree at all. His intellect and maturity level sounds much closer to that of a troubled high-schooler who's at risk of not graduating. They should keep him safely confined to the Discovery Institute. Whatever they discover there has virtually nothing to do with science.

OMFG! Simmons is a medical doctor and doesn't even know the number of neurons in the human brain? Sure, some brains have more than others, but you're off by a factor of about 350!

This is another perfect example of why people like Dawkins refuse to engage creationists and their ilk in debate. They come across as disingenuous, emotional driven, misinformed, wholly ignorant of the issues and completely dishonest. I commend people like Dawkins for NOT giving these people the respect of debate or dialogue - they are undeserving of such an accolade . . . and should be ashamed of their ignorant hate mongering bigotry against the human race and the knowledge we have gleaned.

If the neuronal connections are pruned by 'design' then that begs the question - why would a designer create something (using energy and resources) only to have a great deal of it shunted off (even more energy and resources) at a later stage?

This is really disconcerting. This fellow, Geoffrey Simmons, writes books critical of evolutionary theory, and yet he seems woefully ignorant of the latest developments. His knowledge of the current state of paleontology is especially atrocious, given that he seems to be under the impression that there's little or no evidence for the evolution of whales, when in fact the past 30 years have given us a wealth of fossils that describe whale evolution quite well.

"It's beyond my comprehension". Simmons admits that he doesn't understand how basic biology. Since he doesn't understand it (the details are too difficult from him), it is natural to "make up a solution", that if a designer. ...but there is no evidence of a designer, and there is massive amounts of evidence and explained mechanisma for evolution.

The sad thing is the intelligent design people come to the table with absolutely NOTHING. THEN a person who has devoted their life to studying evolution comes with TONS of evidence and has to listen to the same crappy arguments. Notice Myers will cite specific pieces of evidence and all the guy can counter with is "No, that's not right" because he skimmed an article in Scientific American.
