In an interview with Rolling Stone, Flowers said that he was irritated over the confusion about the lyrics and also that fans were unhappy with the song's dance beat: "It's supposed to be a dance song, [the beat] goes with the chorus...If you can't put that together, you're an idiot. I just don't get why there's a confusion about it."

"Are we human, or are we dance" is the the only words Hunter S. Thompson wrote in his suicide note. Tha's where Brandon and Stuart Price got the lyrics. The rest of the song is comprised of different passages and Thonpson's books.

By general rule, all modern music bands are dump! But there are some music bands that make the exception. The Killers is one of them!

@k00lf00l1 It's dancer. Brandon Flowers said so. Sorry.
In case you don't understand the meaning of the song or its place in the album, the song is about postmodernism. It's a sarcastic dance ballad that reminds us to hold on to our human emotions and relationships even as this postmodern world tries to rip us from those emotions and relationships we hold dear in our hearts. The album is about postmodernism and dealing with this day and age. Listen to this song and then "The World That We Live In" and you'll see some similarties in the messages.
