"you can recharge these batteries" haha well no shit!.

That's great, but I agree that converting your own cars is even better.

looks nice but for over 20k to much plus it's tiny i'm not short so i would not feel right driving it but it would be cool to see if he can do it on a bigger car :D

odziz is right. Great and thnx for putting up this video!

Qdos: he did not invent the car, exactly... it is a Chinese car body with an electric motor to convert it to a battery electric vehicle.

A friend in Long Beach, California, who goes by the handle of Electric Louie, converted the same tiny Chinese car to an electric vehicle, and I have driven it several times... it's really FUN.
Louie is helping me convert a BMW coupe to battery electric power right now. I would rather be driving guilt-free without gasoline, for sure.
Louie is developing a whole line of electric motors, electronic controllers and other hardware for people to convert their own cars to EVs.

Damn . . . nice car. The only thing I'm skeptical about is that I doubt it has passed FMVSS crash tests so he can't really sell it legally for highway driving. But if he does the tests (or has already done them), that is an awesome car. It is like the Th!nk city. Remember folks, with the $7500 tax credit, that car is really only $22,000 or so!

They guy should team up with Better Place. So the car can have a swappable battery.
I’m all for electric cars but Americans idea for a car are diluted. Americans want a big SUV that can go 500 miles on a charge and fill up in a matter of minutes, and no electric car can do that. The truth is that most people only drive 60 miles a day but they still don’t want to be caught driving a small car. So lets say we build these bigger electric cars, but make them hollow. You’ve got to trick people into thinking the car is big and making it hollow still cuts down on weight too.

I totally agree, most manufacturers seem to have a fixation on small cars.
I would have liked something like the KAZ if it had better styling.
Which was a 9 seater limo that could do 300km/h, a range of 400km per charge and could be recharged in 30 mins.
This was the forerunner of the Eliica which I'm sure that you have seen videos of.

Wonder how much electricity it takes to charge the batteries for the 60 or 400 mile versions. Would be interesting to see the cost comparison per mile of each vs gasoline.
$28,000 is much closer to an acceptable cost for a truely green auto, especially if it saves money in the long run on gas.
Still out of my price range, but in all, not a bad little car.

It costs about a tenth of what you pay for gasoline per mile.
