  • James, not to nitpick but your chords are wrong. It's actually a C9 (C7 plus D) and you need to hit the both the Bb and the A at the end of both chords and not just play 2 notes at the end.

    Also, the walkdown is wrong as well. You don't play chords but simply a 2-note interval for each step: A & F (omit C), G & Eb (omit Bb), F & D (omit A), and most importantly, Eb & B (no G or C) to E & C. That phrase slurs up and not down ala a Booker T vibe. Try it out.

  • dankenton - thanks for the tips. I just figured it out by ear, I thought that D might be in there - but C7 and C9 are really pretty much the same thing with the added color.

    On the walkdown, I wasn't sure if the 5th was there, but it doesn't need to be (again 5th just add color, no tonality). Thanks for the post and constructive suggestions =)
