i hate that the air lines killed the ss united states and all other ocean liner and the ss united states no longer holds the speed recurd fairy boats from australia hold the speed recurd sad this country had the fastes ship in the world but they took out her engines,props, and every thing from her brig if i had the mony i would buy her and restor her with modern military props and equitment so she can be the fastes and safest ship in the world again! and reopen uslines and makeanti airline vids

hey in mid 2010 Gerry Lenfest donated over $5 million to saving the ship and the US conservation saved it by buying it right out from under numerous scrapyard offers. they now have plans to build on this purchase possibly making it a waterfront museum / restaurants / retail / hotel rather than putting it to see which would cost a LOT more money. who knows but at least shes safe now, thats some breathing room. maybe someday someone can afford to put her to sea again. It would be a damn shame to let her go to waste, I would be GLAD to pay 3 or 4k to take a cruise, no imagine, if there were others like me, how long would it take for an investment house to make its money back? Too bad China owns it with NCL.
