The second group of Kenya's post election violence suspects made their first formal appearance before the international criminal court pre-trial chambers. Public service head ambassador Francis Muthaura, deputy prime minister Uhuru Kenyatta and postmaster general Hussein Mohamed Ali, like their fellow suspects yesterday, had the opportunity to listen to the charges ICC prosecutor Luis Moreno - Ocampo hopes to prefer against them, as well as hear their rights under the Rome statute. But the courtroom was markedly different from yesterday, in that British lawyers formed the bulk of the defence teams for Muthaura, Kenyatta and Ali. An all British defence counsel represented Kenyatta, while Muthaura picked former Liberian president Charles Taylor's lawyer to be his lead counsel. Sylvia Chebet now brings us today's intrigues inside the ICC pre-trial chamber.
