Year 10 students at Girraween High School set out to raise awareness of refugee issues within our society today. Their aim was to raise awareness among 5000 people, and complete 200 volunteer hours. However, after much work, the team decided to lower their standards to 2000 pople and 75 volunteer hours. The team made presentations in Wentworthville Public School and Blacktown Library as part of their awareness raising, and spoke to people in Blacktown and Castlehill. They ended up reaching 1371 people. Although the students did not reach their target, they did make a great effort and were successful in achieving their overall aims to raise awareness of refugee issues. This video briefly outlines the process which students of GHS went through in order to achieve this outcome.
