As you surely know by now, Vermont has suffered historic flash flooding in the wake of Hurricane Irene, which passed through yesterday. The problems here were not caused by high winds or storm surge, but by massive amounts of rainfall over a short time. I live a couple miles uphill from the Battenkill and route 313, which runs alongside the river, which meant that we were stranded all day yesterday because the river had jumped the banks in both directions. When the road became passable at about 9:00 this morning, I got out to shoot a little video of the famed trout river. But it doesn't look too trouty today.

Camping on the Battenkill was flooded too. They are closed due to the damages that they received. I have not been down there to see the damage, but it was in the local paper that they are closed for the rest of the season.

Anyone try a cast or too on the Golf Course?
on a side note, up in Pulaski, NY when the 22k CFS blow out happened, people were fishing and catching steelhead and Salmon in the parking lots fishing from Park benches... so it may have been worth a cast or two...

Trout dude?? What about the people who live on this river??? I hope they get their lives back!! I love to fish but really?? I don't think the people who lost their home on 313 are thinking of trout right now. No offense or anything.

Irene has screwed up trout fishing for a long time. I just hope and pray the trout fishing will be back to normal next year.
