Ashes of Dreams / New - with English Lyrics (Nier)

The official lyrics are released, it seems. I have edited the lyrics now~ Thank you for all your help, everyone!

After a long time of sitting and replaying parts of this song at several varying decibels, I have come to a relative conclusion to its lyrics!
The OST booklet doesn't have the lyrics, so I transcribed them by ear. Just as a general note, she slurs her words sometimes and her accent comes through so it's pretty hard to figure out what she's saying 100% of the time, so if you have suggestions, feel free to post them. It may take two heads.

best guess is that it implies a loss so great as to rival ten of the worst in your life; in other words, 'a really bad thing'

"The shadows extinguish the sun."

'No shadows' would make more sense in the context, though the sound is ambiguous.

@keithsimonh Fortunately I know what the phrase 'ten-fold' means, so I understood it meant a 'really bad thing'. The problem is the awkward phrasing and clearly hearing what I went with....

And yeah I'll change it to "no shadows" after so many comments.

Kudos to you for figuring out the lyrics! It really helps me with the understanding of the song. But I am not so sure about two words though. Like this part: Can't conquer the day The shadows extinguish the sun. I think it's: Come conquer the day It's because if the night can't conquer the day, how come the shadows can extinguish the sun? There's also this part: It clouds all our hopes for the day. No matter how much i listened, I heard "It clouds all our hopes for the 'dawn'."

I know it doesn't really make sense (but if look at the whole song in retrospect, not everything does - I dont know how you can break phantoms) but I almost certainly hear a "t" sound and her European accent makes the "can't" sound a little less harsh and more like 'come' but I still really hear "can't". Same with "day" unfortunately. You'll have to turn it up really loud or listen in headphones but to me there a pretty clear "day" and can't seem to hear a "ah" or "n" at all...
