when you're born you start with a an average range of 20Hz to about 20,000Hz. As you age the range decreases. 20,000 decreases while you age and 20Hz increases.

Could be a curse or a blessing, depends on how it suits ya! :D

i'd say i can just about hear 16 Hz but it's extremly quiet, my hifi system can go lower that that i think cause i tryed the song 'bass, i love u' on it but with the bass boost on and the tru bass on my computer on high and it seamed to pick up some excusion on the 16 hert or lower sine wave.

I can hear around 18000. I can't really hear it, I can kind of feel it. I can kind of feel my ear drums rumbling. It's weird.

I can hear audible harmonics from sound signatures as low as 12Hz (sound very much like a powerful engine on a steady idle) and as high as 26kHz (noise emissions from TV tubes, pokie machines, etc)
20Hz-20kHz for human hearing is only stereotype, everyone is different :)
