Craig model J110 cassette recorder, circa mid 1980s. Small and nicely styled, but the recording quality is quite poor. Instead of distorting just the S's, it distorts everything.
Similar in style to the Realistic CTR-85 from Radio Shack.

Did you ever try better tapes on this? Because with some DC bias recorders, some tapes record with good sound and some with bad sound like this. I have a machine that is good on one tape but bad on another.

@CassetteMaster I gave the Craig away a while ago. Most of the noise you hear during the music is from trying to connect a line level source to its microphone input. If I had an attenuation cable back then, it would've come out much better.
