I've been looking at the nova/KS rack as my next synth. Coming from an X-Station I would happily buy Novation again.

Is the laptop version the same as the rack unit? Cheers and thanks for the demo :)

Its great for for electronic music trance,house,techo and drum and bass. Im working on a soundset of my own in banks of 64 covering electronic music will be a free download and sounds alot better than the vengance one to my ears. The nova and ks are different I would go for a nova over a ks any day. Shop around on ebay nova laptops can go under £200 and even nova2 keyboards under £300.

ok are these a sound set you made? if so are you selling it like patches on the nord lead? I was thinking of getting the desktop synth would you say its well worth it even if I am not good at synthisis yet?

Hello I did not make the sound set, its made by Vengance-Sounds they sell sound sets for hardware and software synthesizer. I just used there audio demo just to showcase the Novation Supernova/Nova synthesizer. It is worth getting any decent hardware synth there so much fun and all have there own sound charateristics when compared to soft synths.

I glad you like the synthesizer is a complex but cool sound engine. Some tips i found are.

1. Instead of using unsion uses chorus/flange & phazer as a detune effect it sounds alot better for more of a wet unison rather than a dry.

2. Under OSC menu play with the sync skew I like to set it at a - value if you set it between 25-64.Then in the mod matrix set the sync level between 80-100 for a Format/FM/Acid effect on one of your OSC to add bite to those trance lead sounds.

You can load sounds using a program Midi-Ox its free or load the files into a music program that can send midi out. Connect the midi out from your midi device to the midi in of the nova play the file in the music program it should load the files onto the nova make sure mem protect is set to off. You load it the same way you load OS updates.

@laurisiskadj I bought this instead of a Virus TI Snow and couldn't be happier. Much more "personality" than the Virus. No USB, but incredible sound, easy to use and low cost.
