On June 10 2008 popular South African actor Desmond Dube will lead what he hopes will be upwards of a million marchers to the seat of government in Pretoria. He is sick and tired of the seemingly unchecked power of criminals to destroy lives and the predominance of violent crime where the perpetrators place no value on human life. He knows he is not alone, as crime has touched every single South African in some way, no matter what colour or social status. This crime comes in all shapes and sizes from car hijacking and spectacular cash-in-transit heists planned with military precision to simple house break-ins, muggings and white collar crime.

  • Yes, but I think what is needed he is a plan, a method to combat crime.

There is no method. You know what I would do to stop crime in general, not just in South Africa?

Simple. Create more employment opportunties by infrastructure development. Then, create zones of criminals, for example divide the country in different zones, and the redder it is, the more cops are sent there.

  • And you don't have to be an authority on economics to make judgment on him. All you have to be is more knowledgeable than him. I am in fact very involved in economics, but beyond that I am confident of my reasoning. I gave you simple examples of his poor ideas. I would like to thank you overall for respectfully listening to my opinion, it was a welcome surprise. As for what the answer is? Look at Asia, or Europe. You need smart regulation. Under RP, we would be in a depression(banks failing).

  • They ask these kind of questions they ask in the SATs, common. EX: The majority cannot think independently. Ron Paul supporters cannot think independently. Does that conclude that Ron Paul supporters are the majority? NO, it is basic basic basic SAT questions that are meant to test you, ha you failed.

  • No.. the majority are called sheeple because the majority don't do critical analysis. But how do you define by mainstream, the majority? Then you could say "the meanstream are sheeples" but the voting mainstream or the cultural mainstream are still different people. Just because Ron Paul supporters share some flaws very common in society doesn't mean that all of society should by definition believe in him. As I said it has to do with how much media coverage he has.

  • Sheeple indeed would have nothing to do with mainstream. But that is not what you said. You said "the majority are called sheeple". If the majority is not mainstream, then mainstream is not mainstream. Simple logic. It seemed weak because you did not understand it.

Economics is indeed a very hard subject. Even the so called economics disagree wildly. But that did not stop you from passing judgment on Ron Paul, did it? Why? You are the absolute authority world wide on economics?

  • Pretty weak logic actually. By sheeple it has nothing to do with the mainstream, it has to do how easily someone will believe something for x or y reason. The fact he's not mainstream is just a media problem. The "sheeple" will believe anything they are told and not research to their own conclusions. And don't tell me reason 1 or 2 books or arguing with people the same age as you is research, economics is already a very hard subject.

  • You are self-contradicting here. If the majority is called "sheeple" because they would believe these crazy half cooked ideas, then Ron Paul would be "main stream" by now. But he is not.

Maybe, just maybe, you are not one of those "actual knowledgeable people" who "can see right through him and how simple he is". Maybe, just maybe, simple is better in this case.

  • Nope. Why don't you provide a link?

  • Point #1. "smart reasonable people" do not get people into office. Any politician will have to appease the mass to get elected.

Point #2. Evolution is a THEORY. He has a right to not believe it. He has a right to believe his creator created the universe AND evolution as a way for things to self regulate. Ever thought of that?

Point #3. Pro life and pro choice is NOT mutually exclusive.

Point #4. The Roe in Roe v. Wade is also pro life these days.

  • he wanted to do away with the IRS, i thought that was pretty awesome for our economy, saying that it was unconstitutional
