Video showing Ben Nanonote booting and running some sdl apps.

As you can see it's better to type with your thumbs while holding the device in your hands.

  • can this thing run a web browser and connect to the internet?

  • @orangedac

Yes, via usb networking, or external SDIO wifi cards, though It's rather pointless

It's more of a handheld dictionary/ogg player, than a real netbook

  • how do you use it out of the box. I just got mine in the mail but i dont know what to do really :-/

  • Everything is explained in the wiki on the official website of qi-hardware.

  • Hi Zear

Mortys, again, do you know if there is a community for the Nanonote as I wondering how we can use it (for a non advanced user). I mean Dingux is pretty easy to use (no partitions, auto launch the menu...)

  • Yes, there is a wiki, an irc channel and two mailing lists, though I can't post links to them here, as youtube prevents me from posting urls in the comments to my own video :/

  • @magnentius I imagine you could get that off the chip manufacturer's website.

  • hmm, seems like it might be a fun little thing to mess around with.

  • i want it! D:

  • @JohanKH Problem is emulating all the custom chips :-(

  • Do you know the EMF emission of this device? I need a small computer that is low on low frequency EMF, sadly netbooks do not suffice. The nanonote might be ideal.

  • I just recently got a Ben Nanonote, and I have upgrade the software to the latest upgrade. I am unsure how to navigate within the graphic interface. Some of the keyboard buttons work, but not all of them. How are other people able to access apps and speak of use web through the GUI?

  • @DJLarZ man cross-compile

  • @JohanKH That won't work because it's running a MIPS processor instead of an x86/x64-based processor. You need a custom compiler for MIPS binaries.

  • @ossumguywill There are mipsel toolchains available.
