Queen Latifah looks like Pearl Bailey

3 immense jazz talents on 1 stage. Billy holiday and possibly Anita O'day would top this off.

This is like musical heaven!! I'm surprised the world didn't explode after these supernovas soared through these standards! Beyond the spectacular gifts possess by these goddesses they had personality is spades!! I ADORE THEM!!! Thanks so much for posting this piece of history.

a true estrogen alpha female summit.

Amazing to see Sassy play third fiddle here....Although her rendition of "Cherokee" against that beautiful string background....( with Ella scatting behind ) was the highlight for me.
.....along with Ella on "Sweet Georgia Brown"
-
the tunes they sung...(within the framework of the main arrangement ) are as follows:
Savoy
Perdido
sing....sing....sing.
Don't mean a thing , if it aint got that swing.
Cherokee
and Ella absolutely killing
Sweet Georgia Brown.

@Docnolan1953 So agree with you... Ella's scatting's really off the chain, amazing! ! ! =)

One of the most monumental moments in musical history indeed! =)

This is a once in a lifetime thing....Pearl had a one woman show on Broadway back then....This was the last performance....Sarah and Ella were added as guests for the finale....
The three best female big band singers on the planet.....It was all filmed for TV....
Ella steals the show on "Sweet Georgia Brown".....also
great band
I wonder if the people in the audience realize what privilege they had to have those three women sing for them? I mean can you imagine having so much much talent meshing together so perfectly... Had they had Billy Holiday, I think the world could have collapse upon itself...
