My '04 Acura TSX's navigation system isn't working properly. More often than not it loses track of the car's location. I'm not sure if this is a simple "yank the trunk unit and send it in for repair" or not. It used to not happen to often, but now it's to the point to where the navi is useless.

  • My '04 TSX isn't acquiring any satellites. Without satellite acquisition vehicle will be unable to stay in sync with the map. This is my issue.

After ripping out the rear shelf I barely had enough wire to move GPS antenna around to see it start acquiring satellites. New (metalized) film was recently installed on rear glass due to defect with previous. But different brand must have higher metal content as it now creates issue.

Question, have you added any window film?

  • @hiptech Nope. I had the windows tinted when I bought the car and it's worked fine for years. The second, probably related problem, is the system won't boot from sometimes. The "warning" dialog never appears, neither does the Acura navigation splash screen. Pushing any of the buttons like "Map" or "Settings" yields no response. It's very intermittent. Some day I'll pull the unit in the trunk and have Alpine diagnose it.

  • i have an 05 tsx navi, I was just rear ended and started having all these problems, it doesnt show what roads I am on sometimes, screen would freeze for half a minute or more and not show my current location also. I was sent a replacement unit from alpine and still having problems, it shows that I am in between wrong streets sometimes. for example, if i am in between 93rd and 94th st. my car would show that I'm in between 94th and 95th. have you had any luck fixing diagnosing the problem.

  • Try reseting the ecu in the car by just disconnecting the car battery for 15 min but make sure you know you radio and gps codes
