  • Just to correct, I meant "They sound off as they hit/pass the outside edges". On a sweep from left to right, the target will sound off once the left outter edge of the coil pases the target. Give it a try with something in your hand being swept over the coil and you'll see what I'm talking about. Not knowing this drove me nuts on my first hunt with my ACE.

    Thanks for all your help!

  • You need to buy a pin pointer...speeds up your digs...

  • A good pin pointer well save you some time looking for your target.

  • Merde de chien ?

  • @RicardoNY1 thanks for this, my first find was two dimes in a hole, I went straight to them with a tiny hole in the ground and they popped right out, than all other holes was digging to china, I couldn't figure it out, good thing I was practicing in my own yard. lol. mine seems to sound on the outside rim from the outside.

  • I also highly suggest you notch out the area where zinc pennies fall, or you will get alot of bottlecap hits. Nickels can be tricky to distinguish from pulltabs, etc at first. I'd ignore them until you guys gain further experience. The easiest way btw to dig a target is to dig a U shaped plug and then flip it over. Gets you down there quick and maintains the appearance of the park. Keep at it, I started out with an ACE 250 and once you make a good find or two, you'll get hooked.

  • Good job keeping the coil level. I do advise you guys to lay out a few coins or targets on the ground and pass the coil over them so you know how they sound off and you can practice pin pointing. Another important thing for you to know about the ACE is that the targets Do Not ring off when they pass the center of the coil. They pass as they hit the outside edges. Try it with something in your hand and you will see. Knowing that helps with accuracy in determining where the target is initially.
