My answer to "score following" without following a score. Augmented Violin as a controller simply tracks certain movements of the bow, and controls the sequence in LIVE. The piece is Jobim/Buarque's "Eu Te Amo".

Update: I just put up a new blog entry to describe this in more detail. http://subharmonics.blogspot.com/2010/12/flow-following-not-score-following.html

  • BOTH, actually. I have a 'gate' saying "if the certain audio level is continued for more than a certain time" (obviously, since I don't want the bowing movement tracked when I'm NOT playing :) activate the bowing sensor that's moving at the steady state". It works very well.

  • Is the sustain measured from the audio or captured from movement tracking? Very new to MaxMSP.
