There is method in Mick's madness for not inviting Beth in - he has other intimate company. Of course he is still attracted to his estranged ex-wife, what man wouldn't be, but he doesn't feel the same way about her as he does for Beth. Even after her and Josef's betrayal, Mick is still madly in love with Beth and he plots to seduce Coraline into giving him some of the compound so he can be mortal again and ultimately be with his true love. After a night of passion with the ex and taking some of the compound he rushes over to Beth's apartment to apologise for his dismissive behaviour from the night before and to share the good news of his imminent mortality, but sadly yet another unpleasant surprise awaits him.
