  • I don't know what to say..... i suspected this might happen someday but this is the first one i have seen.....this is my father.....i sat by louis bellson at the funeral which was more of a music celebration as it should have been

thanks again....and thanks to those who have responded, i've seen him play many times and he could tear it up...he only started slowing down about 8 months before he passed..... Brian Black.......Amarillo, TX

  • Yep...that's the good stuff! Love that old jazz style of drumming. This is a wonderful, classic clip. I have a few short clips on here where I attempt this sort of thing...worth a watch. Bravo Mr. Black, keep inspiring us all!

  • The first and only recording I ever heard of the amazing Dave Black was on the album Hi-Fi Drums, which my drum teacher, John Murray, in Dublin, Ireland had. There was also a solo on that album by another great drummer, whom I've never heard of before or since, Alvin Stoller. Terrific, swinging, exciting snare-drum playing - just the way I love it!

  • lindo.... ele tem um motorzinho na mão esquerda....

    fantástico

  • To this day, this is one of my top 3 favorite drum solos. Every drummer in every musical style can take something from Dave. Simply amazing.

  • I first heard Dave Black in 1961 when I listened to the album "Hi-Fi Drums". It had Buddy, Louie and other great ones but Dave's solo and playing really stood out and stuck with me. I finally got to me him a few years before he passed and got to see him at several music events and speak with him. A very decent and nice man and truly one of the great drummers of our time. • oh my sweet Lord christ....this man is unbelievable!

    RIP!

  • This is my great grandpa and he was not only an amazing drummer but by far so much fun to be around. Always a joke to be heard. He was kind and loving and is missed by us all. Love you Gpa Dave!

  • Dave was not only an amazing drummer, we was an amazing person. He lived 2 houses down from me in Alameda. I knew him, Olga & Brittley quite well. They were a 2nd family to me. Even knew the dog Mikey. So nice to find this video as I miss him & the family alot
