  • shoving one arm in his guard is like begging for a triangle !

  • @Rofny Yes, yes it is. This pass has been modified immensely to protect from the triangle

  • now i am only a white belt at jiu jitsu but i dont care who you are if you try to pass my guard that way im not simply letting you slide to side control im gonna triangle or at least attempt to stop your passand make you adjust

  • @estafuego8807 yeah this is an old school pass and there have been numerous adjustments made where you can still pass under

  • mabe i'm missing something but it seems to me that when your transitioning from full guard to side control your GIVING your opponent the perfect oppertunity to through you into a triangle choke.

  • in this particular case it is true. People have modified the guard pass so that the other arm is more protected thus if one were to triangle their legs they wouldnt be able to get their opponents arm across for a sucessful finish. I will send you a video on a similar guard pass if I can find one. Cheers

  • Those Rorion & Royce tapes are a real mess.

  • Remember, these techniques are against an attacker with no Jiu Jitsu background. Therefore; your typical street thug. Thugs are brawlers and their main moves are to take wild swings and tackle, then to ground and pound. All thugs fight the same way.

  • @peltiersupporter that pass is still relevant today, i use it and see it used a lot, i you have control over someones hips they wont be able to triangle you

Fique esperto!

  • @Rofny Thats why it is called Gracie gift ( the gift for the triangle:)

  • An alternate (and effective) guard pass that I have used is taking a right knee, or left, and placing it directly in-between their legs allowing no space between your knee and their body. Then, you pull the opposite knee behind you, remembering to establish a nice base and then taking the opposite hand of the knee you are using to push their leg to the ground, consequently breaking their guard. I have found it to be effective quite often.

  • idk about that guard pass. thats triangle city 4 me!. never have 1 arm in and one arm out/
