In the first episode Kingdom said it was because of the university he went to. He choose it for the fact it had a snooker table in every hall rather than because of its academic standing and as such he would be less employable than someone who went to Oxbridge for instance

I was talking about the first series, aired about a year ago on Eén. I believe it came on fairly late, but they aired season 2 not so long ago and yeah, I think it was a success (Woo! )

Kingdom isn't cancelled...
It was prime-time ITV.
Many, many people watched it

I LOVE the series, there is so much water in it. Water, my favourite element :D
And Stephen Fry on top of that, along with all the other brilliant actors and actresses.

I think they meant to state that he is less qualified than a lot of others, due to his grades in comparisson to all the other law students, not that he is not qualified at all. Some of my friends studied law, and usually only the very best are likely to get jobs right away. well so much for the explanation that formed in my mind while I was thinking about the same thing as you are.

I'm a little confused. Didn't Lyle just rattle off a list of achievements (4 A-Levels and so on) in the previous clip? Why is he so un-hireable then?

Plenty of terrible programming in Britain as well... Sadly PBS only syndicates the cheapest British television, or they wait until its long past its prime. It doesn't really have too much to do with American production companies berating American audiences, that's more your own personal insecurities about your culture perhaps. ;) It does have a lot to do with the levels of Anglophilia being much lower in the States than lovers of Stephen Fry wish it were.
What's wrong with Are You Being Served?
It's a classic

I love this show, it's charming and the characters are interesting and fun. I wish we could get here the shows you have there. The good ones not Are You Being Served and that crap. When a producer here likes a Brit show they Americanize it and put in American actors therefore ruining it completely. I guess American production companies think like many Brits do that we Yanks aren't smart or saavvy enough to appreciate the originals, sigh...
