  • hahaha..so old

  • @untunedguitar45 also the year nosferatu came out

  • @garganrose which is before 1923

  • @noqa 1922

  • @PS3XBOX360GUY 1/10 troll harder.

  • Dracula the novel is in public domain. The movie starring Bela Lugosi is copyright by Universal.

  • @noqa Dracula is not and never was Universals copyright, he is a character that belonged to Bram Stoker, and now belongs to no one in particular. The unique design of a Romanian vampire with an intense stare, slicked back hair and high collared black cape is a trademark that belongs to Universal, but Copyright and Trademark are two totally different cans of beans. The ownership status of a trademark does not directly affect the copyright ownership of a film it happens to appear in.

  • @Th3OriginalGing3r Nosferatu was made before 1923, so it's in the public domain by default

Dracula, on the other hand, is still under copyroghtby Universal Pictures, and will remain so for as long as they can hold it

  • It's not in the Public Domain, Universal is very protective of their monsters.

  • Nope it is indeed in the public domain, I have looked into this quite a bit for my own purposes... Nosferatu is too
