I wish we could split the planet in half and those that don't care could have part and those of us who are willing to work and sacrifice to make the planet a better place for future generations could have ours. But life doesn't work like that.
Some would go to a great museum like the Field Museum and have a great time; I go and become more cynical.

We tell the locals to protect the lion in Africa, meanwhile any westerner with enough money can trophy hunt it, or eat them in a fancy restaurant in America.
The wild Tiger is endangered and finally seeing protection in India, yet still falls to poachers due to the Asian medicine market. People in the US own thousands of "pet" tigers. Crazy.
Wildlife groups go to court using time and money to protect wildlife, as other agencies fight to get them taken off of endangered list for various reasons. Wildlife conservation is crazy.

The human situation is also crazy, where just in my lifetime the population has doubled. Have we evolved twice as much, or are we twice as happy?
I feel that almost all the world's problems (gas, food safety, pollution) are a result of the population boom.
The poor having multiple children are putting themselves in a bigger financial hole, and the wealthy large families go through resources like there's no tomorrow. I see people complain about the environment, as they load their super strollers holding four kids and one in each arm into their mini vans.
Oh well...

My perspective: Liberals want to save animals from extinction, but don't give a hoot if we throw away millions of infants (or fetai) per year as medical waste. Conservatives want to save fetai from ending up as medical waste, but have no problem killing endangered species and trashing the enviroment. No matter which way you put it, somebody demands the right to kill something. Where have logic and basic moral standards gone?!?!
