I have 7 years of performance driving, teaching and competing in mine, and you are going to tell me how it is? Hahahaha... no your wrong, out of the box, with shitty tires, it drifts like a mothesucker, no problem. If it donesn't have an LSD, then yes you are right. Mine has a Torsen LSD, stock for the R and C packages for 1994. For fun and drifting I run on cheap all-season tires, best ones are Kumho 516 and some Sumitomo cheapo street sport tires.

Joel, your are right on the money man... I love my Miata and I can attest to the fact that they are awesome for drifting, right out of the box.

@cretondude Yes. since day one they have always been RWD :) if you want to get one shoot for the 1.8ltr. Best performance and potential overall.
