I trust corporations to run the Internet a HELL of a lot more than the federal government.
-
My God; you'd think there was some kind of conspiracy from the comments here. We have private telecommunications and package delivery; why do we need the government running the 'Net? More importantly, who in their right mind would WANT a regulated Internet?
-
The government doesn't need to "provide" net neutrality because packets of information have been treated indiscriminately since the very inception of the internet.
Those in favour of abolishing NN are the telecoms and the politicians they are lobbying. Why? Because now that major businesses have secured massive financial stake on the web via fair business opportunity provided by net neutrality, they want to throttle the competition essentially taking away that same opportunity for others.
-
These Republicans have no shame, doing the whim for their corporate sponsors. Net Neutrality benefits everyone except the big telecoms. Which side are the Republicans? Typical!
-
Well said. It's amazing how the conservatives are trying to spin net neutrality as some sort of government takeover of the Internet.
-
What they don't tell you is that your internet service provider is currently trying to regulate and block sites to increase their profit margins by redirecting you to site which they have a vested interest. Net neutrallity is to protect what we have now from the corporations. I would hate to see the internet divided up among 5 corporations like cable tv. While you are screaming about big government, big corporations are stealing our freedoms of expression.
-
Yes, let your provider decide what you are fit to see. Net Neutrality is the opposite of government regulating the internet. It makes it so no one, private or public, can interfer with what speed you download particular sites.
-
First of all we will not be "getting" Net Nuetrality. We all ready have it. That is the Internet you are using right now. Currently it's great for business innovation. The telecom companies want to split the Internet up into pieces that only they control. The opponants of net nuetrality want to sell you an animal farm.(Orison Wells style) Keep the internet from becoming a corporate communist regime! Support Net Nuetrality!
-
Rep. Cliff Stearns, your ass is getting booted out soon enough for trying to sell us off.
We are getting Net Neutrality, one way or the other.
These guys are trying to sell the internet to the big telicoms...
Government MUST regulate the internet for us, not big business.
What more do you people need to see that the regulation is needed.
Without regulation Wall Street and Banks nearly destroyed the economy, how much more do you people need to see? A complete collapse of your country?
Net Neutrality is a first admendment right.

If you think this is about regulating the Internet, then you: A) Don't know what the Internet is B) Don't know what net neutrality means, and C) Should probably review the history of the subject if you love your free speech so much
