Allusions

* Just before he vanishes, Squall is framed against a field of yellow and white flowers, reminiscent of the field in Final Fantasy VIII, near Edea's orphanage ruins.
* The white feather that Squall catches in the ending may be a reference to the opening of Final Fantasy VIII, where Rinoa catches a petal falling from the sky and turns it into a feather in a flower field.
* Squall's thoughts can be constantly read when he is interacting with other people, just like in Final Fantasy VIII, where the player could also read Squall's inner monologue.
* Throughout Destiny Odyssey VIII, Squall prefers to fight alone, similar to his nature as a loner in his original appearance, though his motivations for this preference are more altruistic in Dissidia than in Final Fantasy VIII.
* When executing his EX Burst, Squall begins by slashing the enemy in a form of a cross, a reference to Seifer's Bloodfest Limit Break.
* The Chocobo Feather that is passed between Squall and Bartz may allude to their Chocobo's both being adventurous, yellow feathered males named Boco. The feather itself is yet another of Squall's connection to Final Fantasy VIII.
* In Destiny Odyssey VIII-3, Squall says, Im gonna pass on the subject, when Kuja comes to capture him. This line is the phrase Squall used in Final Fantasy VIII when he was opposed to talking about a subject, such as when Seifer asked him if he had a dream, or when Rinoa asked him stuff about the future.
* I wont be past tense, is a victory quote of Squall's references a line of his, Im not having anyone talk about me in the past tense!
* Talk to a wall," another victory quote, was his uncooperative response to Quistis' exasperation of his lack of willingness to listen to what she has to say.
* The Lance of Slit and Crime & Penalty gunblades, also known as Twin Lance and Punishment, are from the original game with Punishment being the second strongest sword under Lionheart.
* Squall's magic attacks focus primarily on ice and thunder spells, which may be a reference to the two Guardian Forces he uses at the start of Final Fantasy VIII, Shiva and Quezacotl.

Trivia

* The Trigger function is automatically used by Squall in almost all of his attacks, as seen clearly when he does Fated Circle as he faces Ultimecia in Destiny Odyssey VIII.
* Compared to their original forms used in Final Fantasy VIII, Squall's limit based HP Attacks have been decreased in size. For example, when he used Fated Circle the distance of the attack is relatively close compared to the original, and his Blasting Zone, instead of reaching above the atmosphere as in its animation, is now a much more reasonable size.
* Rough Divide, the very first Limit Break available to Squall in Final Fantasy VIII, is ironically his last obtained HP attack in Dissidia, gained at Level 51.
* He is the third hero to gain his crystal according to Destiny Odyssey 60.
* Squall is the only hero to strike down his opposing warrior in a Shade Impulse Cutscene.
* Squall is the only hero whose cut-scenes show that he decisively won all of his boss fights.
* Squall, Cloud, Terra, and the Onion Knight are the only 4 heroes to fight another hero. Squall's boss fight is against the Warrior of Light.
* If one looks closely at Squall, it can be seen clearly in the ending that he is wearing a different version of his necklace than in his art and in-game model. As well, in-game his Revolver has no trigger inside the trigger guard.
* Squall and Terra are the only heroes who are helped by other heroes before their fights with their respective villains. The hero who helps Squall is Zidane.

  • is this dissidia 012?or dissidia?

cause mine is the same story, just the look of the HP Bar and the others are different from my dissidia 012

  • Actually Doing my play through Rough Divide was all ready in my move list at level One. Apparently you can't go by the Japanese Guides that are all over the net at the moment. Gonna have to wait for an updated one.
