dna dance theatre presented an immersive multimedia dance work/installation that incorporated dance, set, music, video, drawing, slide projections and
the audience that was invited up on stage.

Intention
The intention was to break and revolutionise the normal parameters associated with the traditional modes of dance presentation. The piece therefore challenged audiences in more ways than one and questioned their perspectives on traditional norms usually associated with dance and theatre.

clinical capsule was based around the theme of schizophrenia as postmodern condition. It was an extremely personal work based on the notion of the personal becoming political. At the time it seemed to reflect the zeitgeist of South Africa suffering from post traumatic stress syndrome.

Research
In Anti-Oedipus Deleuze and Guattari believe that the schizophrenic makes no separation between personal and social experience; his or her personal expressions are themselves political expressions. For the schizophrenic, word and thing are one, saying is doing. The relationship between word and action, wish and action is direct and immediate. Deleuze and Guattari also exalt the schizophrenicís proximity to the imaginary, to fusional relationships and to flux. The self is all flux and fragmentation, collection of machine parts. In human relationships one whole person never relates to another whole person. However fragmentation is a universal of the human condition, not something specific to the schizophrenic.

The work was originally 30 minutes in length.
