the news reader reminds me of percy from green mile......poor people in the storm

Remember the windspeeds that they talk about are just the recorded gusts, I'm sure winds where stronger at times where they wern't recorded, especially out at sea. The strongest recorded gust that I know of was 126mph somewhere in Kent, although apparently a gust was recorded at 140mph in Calais in northern France but this is unofficial and never confirmed!

Shoreham Coastguard station recorded a wind speed of 120mph. That was because their eqipment was only calibrated to a maximum of 120mph. Fisherman and Lifeboat Hon. Sec. Jim Partridge clocked 129 mph at the Monteum Wharf in Shoreham By Sea, West Sussex.

wasnt a hurricance, was hurrican force winds
-
Nasty!
-
northampton was windy enough with 60mph gusts, the Isle of Wight seemed to get the brunt of it

The great storm wasnt a hurricane!
Bad enough though.

i remember this, it knocked down our whole garden wall, was a lot worse for some people though.

I wasn't even born when this happened but I'm interested in extreme weather thought I'd check this out. That car at 1:50 oops! Scary to be in that car! Still could have been worse, could have been in that block of flats with the roof ripped off...I remember laughing when I was about 10 hearing that Michael Fish had said "absolutely no chance of a hurricane" then this happened! Still, even the best get it wrong sometimes.

uggghhhh... that would've been disgusting and shocking.
Anyone remember the great storm of 1987?
