Yes, I remember the dash to the playoff game. I felt bad the kids couldn't be there to receive all their awards in person. My daughter is Bethany Hayward. She played the flute. She is married now and lives in Florida and is a Librarian for Broward County.

Do you remember that we had to go straight from the field to the bus that took us to the playoff game? We got there right in time for our halftime performance!! Who's your daughter?

Alan, thanks for posting this video. My daughter was a senior band member that year. I remember sitting in the stands watching this awesome performance. KM4B rules!

Right! And in this video (1994), KM4B swept ALL of the categories, causing NAMMB to pass a rule later on that year that said no one band could win all of the awards! I'm disappointed that I have to keep saying this, but I get tired of the "Longview Longevity" argument. Longview was around for several decades before Kingwood; you can't fault the KM4B for simply not existing.

No argueing that Longview has been good for many years...it's just that now Kingwood is better. Don't feel badly, even Rome had to fall from it's pedestal.

It doesn't matter.Longview has recieved all those awards at one point. No one can mess with 58 consecutive 1st division at UIL marching. 40 consecutive UIL sweepstakes, 11 consecutive 1st divisions at NAMMB, and superior ratings at countless competions around the country.

I graduated from Daingerfield High in '84 and Longview High was the bomb. No one can touch Mr Kunkel in directing but Kingwood has found its niche in its time. Back in the day Longview was THE BAND of the time. Please don't criticize either program as both are and will be best for some time. Even at DHS we brought some pretty fine corp style to the table in our time. Even military during my older sisters tenure at DHS. Long live the military style.
