  • Start the terminal and enter: sudo gedit /boot/grub/menu.lst

Find the line with the Kernel and at the end of the line add: nosplash quiet vga=872 (for 1680x1050 resolution). It shoud look something like this:

kernel/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.28-11-generic root=UUID=aaaaaaaa-aaaa-aaaa-aaaa-aaaaaaaaaaaaa ro vga=872 quiet nosplash (thats what mine is exactly)

save file, exit, and reboot. You should have text boot now. Different resoultions require different vga=xxx numbers

  • what i press to have it on text mode??

  • ah, damn, you're right ;)

  • No customizations ?

    YOU CHANGED TEH WALLPAPERZ !

    ;)

  • KDE 3.5.10 loads waaay faster.... :) I'm GNOME user, but installed KUbuntu just to test boot-time. KDE 4.x in Alfa 5 is still very unstable, has bugs, but it looks promising. So, KDE users, hope these will be fixed in final version ;)
