CatGenie - Cleaning Cycle

This is a video of my CatGenie going through a cleaning cycle. The video is playing about 3.5 times faster than normal speed. The full cleaning cycle takes about 30 - 35 minutes, so I wanted to render the video so it would only take about 10 minutes to watch.

So curious question, I've done some research. I really like how Cat Genie works and one other machine Litter Robot seems to work quite nicely as well. Only cons with genie is cleaning process takes a while and with Little Robot, still have to clean box, which is fine. Which one should I choose? Any suggestions?

@VBloodFetishV I looked at the Litter Robot as well, but chose the CatGenie (CG) because it flushes all waste out and self-cleans the bowl. In the past year, I've only had to touch the CG to replace cleaning cartridges and to scoop the occassional tiny poo bits. Long term though, CG will cost more (electricity + water + litter pellets + cartridges), but it is worth it to ME. Check out the litterbox-central CG forums to read more info from other users, to see if it's the right fit for you.

ok in this video the litter box is loud when it cleans is it just because the type a camera ur using or is it really that loud?

@Kat42Gar It depends on your definition of "loud". It's definitely quieter than my washing machine, but if you live in a studio apartment, you might not want this running a cleaning cycle in the middle of the night. Also, the newer model is quieter I think. BTW, my kids have been able to sleep through the noise at night, and their room is about 10 feet away from the laundry room (where the CatGenie is).

That's like saving a whole month of cat litter ..........but does it cost a lot and do you have to get the drain install

@jamal281000 Honestly, the overall cost will be higher compared to "traditional" cat litter. These units use special cleaning cartridges and litter. Even though the litter is "washable", you will eventually need to buy some (because some pellets get kicked out by the cats, washed down the drain, etc.). You also have to factor in the cost of water and electricity. This product won't save you money, but it makes cleaning more convenient. It drains out using the same "hole" as your washing machine.

My cats are curious and watched while we set it up. The left before we started the first cycle. So far I'm happy!

Just set up our CG and find it very noisy, but with three cats I am done with all the scooping and mess. Thank you for posting the video. My cats-.
